Coiled cables
Spiral cables ensure a reliable electrical connection between truck and trailer. They combine flexibility, strength, and safety to power lighting, signaling, and onboard electronics.
Spiral cables, also known as coiled or curly cables, form the flexible electrical link between the tractor unit and the trailer. They carry current and signals for lighting, indicators, ABS/EBS systems, and other electronics. Their spiral shape allows them to stretch and retract naturally, preventing them from dragging on the ground or being pulled tight during turns.
Built for tough conditions, spiral cables resist mechanical stress, UV exposure, temperature extremes, moisture, road salt, and abrasion. The outer sheath is made from high-quality flexible plastic or rubber, and the inner conductors are made from high-conductivity copper.
These cables are available in various configurations — 7-pin, 13-pin, 15-pin, ISO 7638, etc. — and may come pre-fitted with connectors, strain relief systems, and protective sleeves. Applications include lighting, braking systems, EBS communication, and CAN-bus data transmission.
A damaged or worn spiral cable can cause lighting failures, signal loss between truck and trailer, or braking system errors. Regular inspection and timely replacement are vital to maintain safety, roadworthiness, and operational reliability.
