A torque rod is a suspension component that links the vehicle’s axle to the chassis and controls its longitudinal movement. During braking or acceleration, it absorbs the torque forces and prevents the axle from shifting forward or backward — ensuring proper alignment, consistent handling, and protecting drivetrain components.

Most torque rods are constructed from durable steel tubing with rubber or metal bushings at each end. These bushings help isolate vibration and allow limited controlled movement without compromising axle position. Heavy-duty trucks may have multiple torque rods per axle, positioned above or below to manage forces from different directions.

Worn bushings or a bent rod can cause axle instability, uneven tire wear, clunking noises, or driveline stress. Replacing faulty torque rods is essential to maintain smooth operation and road safety.

Key features and uses:

  • Controls axle movement under dynamic load conditions

  • Constructed from high-strength steel with flexible bushings

  • Enhances handling, alignment, and ride comfort

  • Protects driveline from stress and wear

  • Available in various lengths and configurations for specific suspensions

At Sanders Parts, we offer OEM-quality torque rods built for strength, reliability, and easy installation — ensuring maximum control over your axle behavior.
