Clutch disc
The clutch disc connects the engine to the transmission, ensuring smooth power transfer and absorbing vibrations for better shifting comfort and driveline protection.
Located between the flywheel and pressure plate, the clutch disc is the key friction component of the clutch system. When the clutch is engaged, the disc is pressed against the flywheel, transmitting power from the engine to the transmission input shaft.
A quality clutch disc ensures gradual, shock-free engagement. It is covered in heat- and wear-resistant friction material and often includes a torsion damper to absorb shocks and drivetrain vibrations — crucial for performance and longevity.
As the disc wears down, grip is reduced, leading to slippage, jerky starts, or clutch failure. Replacing the disc at the right time is critical for maintaining drivability and protecting the entire clutch assembly.
