Air dryers
Air dryers remove moisture from the compressed air system, protecting brakes, valves and pneumatic components from corrosion and freezing.
An air dryer is a critical component in any commercial vehicle’s air brake system. As air is drawn in and compressed, it naturally contains moisture. If left untreated, this moisture can build up in the system, causing internal rust, freezing in cold temperatures, and damage to essential components.
Air dryers use a desiccant — typically silica gel — to trap and remove water vapor before the air reaches the braking and control circuits. Many models also include automatic regeneration and purge valves to extend the life of the drying media and maintain system efficiency.
A worn or clogged air dryer can no longer effectively remove moisture, leading to serious risks such as brake failure, stuck valves, or damage to electronic components. That’s why regular inspection and timely replacement of the drying cartridge are vital to system health and safety.
